Housing Alliance announces dual appointment of Sean O’Connor as Chairman and John Hannigan as Vice Chairman
Sean O’Connor is the Chief Executive of Tuath Housing and a Chartered Surveyor with dual SCSI and RICS membership. Sean is also a long-standing member of the Chartered Institute of Housing with a master’s degree in Housing from South Bank University, London. He is a Chartered Surveyor with over 30 years’ experience of working in social housing with local authorities and housing associations in Ireland and the UK.
Following his appointment Sean said, “I and John will do our level best to lead the Housing Alliance during this critical time with the mammoth challenges of the pandemic and the housing crisis to overcome. I am proud to say that the entire not-for-profit housing association sector has demonstrated enormous resilience and strength during Covid. I look forward with confidence to the Housing Alliance playing its part in alleviating the housing crisis by working together with all stakeholders to address the barriers and challenges to delivering more social and truly affordable homes. We will do this whilst simultaneously providing best value and first-class services to the families that Alliance members currently house”.
John Hannigan is the CEO of Circle VHA and a Fellow of the Association of Certified Accountants with an MBA from Warwick Business School. John is also a member of the Governing Board of Chartered Institute of Housing (UK) with over 30 years of experience in the Housing sector, on his appointment John said “I look forward to supporting Sean in his role as Chair and in progressing the work of the Alliance, through collaboration with our stakeholders. The challenges faced by the pandemic has opened up the prospect of viewing things differently and the continued work of the Alliance will ensure that we rise to further challenges presented, maintain our focus on seeking innovative solutions in addressing the issues facing the sector.”
